Reader's Response 27

Hoot                                  0-91                                   read for 4Hrs.

Hoot is about a boy named Roy, who recently moved to Florida. While getting his faced smashed against the window of the school bus by Dana, the school bully, he notices a strange boy who is running. He decides to follow the boy but his forts attempt is foiled when he is hit by a golf ball while tailing the boy on a golf course. He also meets other obstacles, like Beatrice the Bear whom, he finds out, is the boys sister and will do anything to protect him. Their is also officer Delinko a kind police officer who is trying to get promoted to detective. But while he is investigating a series of crimes at the future sight of a Mother Paula's Pancake House, his car gets vandalized and he takes the blame. With his hope of promotion pulling farther away, he must solve the crime and figure out how the burrowing owls that have nests at the sight, fit in.

I have read this book before and am currently reading it to my brother, who really loves it. The story line is full of adventure and the tone that is so pro-environment makes the story a great read. i also love it because it is so sweet. The book has clever dialogue and a wonderful sense of humor.

         A wonderful book. 5 stars.
